• A safe working platform with secure edge protection, mid guard rails and safe means of access shall be installed. In instances where this cannot be achieved alternative arrangements must be made to prevent persons or materials falling to the ground.
• Crawling boards and similar safety equipment shall be used on fragile roof surfaces.
• Adequate containment measures shall be included to ensure that tools or materials cannot fall, or barriers are to be erected to keep people away from areas where overhead work is being carried out.
• The contractor shall ensure that fixed scaffolds and mobile scaffold towers comply fully with all statutory requirements before and during use.
• The contractor shall make safety harnesses and suitable training available for all employees who work where there is a risk of falling more than 2 meters and a safety barrier or cover or crawling boards cannot be practicably provided.
